The 1972 Fund was established as a way for MODE Alumni to help the Foundation put on Alumni-centered events and as a way to begin saving for a permanent chapter house. The fund is pretty This could be MODE...simple...each year we will ask Alumni to donate $19.72 to help further the legacy of our chapter. While this may not sound like a large sum, to put it into perspective...if 700 alumni were to donate $19.72 per year the chapter would take in a little over $13,000. While we will never expect to come near 100% participation in this initiative we feel that it is a reasonable way to generate funds for Alumni events and move towards the purchase of a permanent home for our chapter. Needless to say, your involvement inthis program will greatly benefit the chapter and we would be very appreciative of your support.

In October of 2005, The Foundation will establish an additional component to the 1972 Fund, the "Century Club." Once an Alumnus donates over $100, from October 2005 and on, he is known as a Century Club brother. We honor these individuals by placing their name on a purple name plate and placing that plate on a permanent plaque which will be displayed in the chapter room.

Once an Alumnus reaches the $500 mark, his name plate is replaced with a silver one and he is given the previous one. Once he accumulates $1,000, the plate is replaced with a gold one. At $5,000, his name is removed from the plaque and is replaced with a large 8x10 plaque (with photo) which will be placed above the fireplace in the formal living room of a future house. In addition to the plaque, we will display the name of the donor on this web site (below).

Alumni Donation Opportunities

The strength of Sigma Alpha Epsilon - MODE lays in the vast resources its alumni provides; including time and money. The both gifts are vital to our undergraduates’ development and our position as the premier fraternity. Listed below are the donation opportunities that exist for generous alumni of Sigma Alpha Epsilon - Missouri Delta.

Cash Gifts
The most convenient and frequently used method of supporting the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation is a gift of cash-outright currency, personal check, credit card authorization or money order-made payable to the Missouri Delta Foundation and mailed to (Bob Fernholz's Address)

Appreciated Securities
A gift of your appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares is an ideal way to support the SAE CrestFoundation. The various activities of the Foundation and the drive towards the purchase of a chapter house will benefit from your support and you will receive a tax deduction for your contributions. In addition, transferring the securities prior to liquidation will help you to avoid capital gains taxes. Selling the securities and contributing the proceeds will trigger a capital gains liability. Please contact Jerry Bales or Bob Fernholz (of the Foundation board) for personal assistance with the transfer of these assets.

Real And Personal Property
Your real estate and other marketable personal items can be given to the Foundation as an outright gift. For tax purposes the contributor may deduct the fair market value of the real purpose and function to be fully deductible.

Matching Gifts
Many corporations will match gifts to the Foundation. If you or your spouse works for one of these organizations, your gift could multiply. Please ask your human resources office if your company does match gifts to charitable organizations. If so, please ask your employer for the proper form to include with your gift.

Deferred Giving
The Foundation benefited greatly from deferred gifts in the 2001-2002 campaign year with over $1.2 million received from realized deferred gifts. Inclusion of the Foundation in your will or trust should reference the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation, Evanston, IL.

Please contact Foundation Treasurer, Mr. Bob Fernholz at 913-661-9038 or BFernholz@saemodelta.com with questions about giving options.
