What Is The Status Of 'The Project'?
Unfortunately for all of us, the Chapter has historically been lackadaisical with the organization and storage of our photos. The 5000+ slides currently in the Foundations possession were found (in no particular order) just before the demolition of our fourth house. While we were pleased to recover these irreplaceable slides, their organization, restoration and dissemination will take both time and money. It is the ultimate goal of "The Picture Project" to be able to provide interested alumni with the ability to obtain photos from their time at Rockhurst.
Why Don't I See More Photos Of MY Generation?
We promise we aren't playing favorites! While we have thousands of slides, the time span for the collection doesn't begin to cover the 30+ years of the fraternity's history. Particularly conspicuous in their absence are photos from the periods 1972 - 1985 and 1992 - Present . Some quick math will tell you that we are missing photos from most of our chapters history. Some of the void can be attributed to a technology shift that took us from the old school slide show to the PowerPoint era, the lack of an organized photo filing system and the occasional Correspondent who simply kept their collection after graduation. Whatever the reason, we've set about the difficult task of piecing our photographic history together.
What Can I Do?
Put plainly, we are seeking photos. While our primary goal is to obtain photos from the periods mentioned above ("official" fraternity photos or from your personal collection) we would be happy to accept photos from any period. If you need help scanning or otherwise reproducing your photos please contact our resident multimedia guru by clicking here. If you would like us to do the scanning for you please contact project lead, Allen Abbott ('94) at (816)506-5979 - - he will be happy to work with you.
If you have any knowledge or the contact information of any person or persons who may have digital, print or slide photos from the fraternity's past, we ask that you please e-mail us so we can make inquiries.
For a look at a few of the slides we've already converted...scroll down.... these photos have been compressed (lower quality) so this page will load more quickly. Final versions (for dissemination) are much higher quality....
